PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has signed Republic Act 11670, a law that grants the University of Southern Mindanao its broadcasting franchise.

The law, signed by the President last March 29, will take effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

USM operates DXVL FM 94.9 MHz, which is expected to have bigger coverage with the signing of the law.

It airs its frequency under the Philippine Broadcasting Service of the Bureau of Broadcast Services, the radio network of the government.

The USM community welcomed the signing of the law, saying it will be of great benefit to the university.
