A STUDENT from the University of the East has won first prize in the experimental category at the prestigious 36th Gawad Cultural Center of the Philippines Alternatibo Film and Video Festival.

Angelo Miguel “Ulap” Chua was honored for his film titled “Rod,” which depicts the 1985 People’s Strike organized by the National Federation of Sugar Workers in Escalante, Negros Occidental.

Chua’s work distinguished itself among 12 finalists selected from numerous submissions nationwide. He received a trophy crafted by contemporary artist Leeroy New and a cash prize of P50,000.
