UE ALLOWS THREE-DAY ACADEMIC BREAK
THE UNIVERSITY of the East granted the request of the students to implement a three-day academic break after the preliminary examinations.
In a memorandum, UE President Ester Garcia said there will be no synchronous sessions on September 21, 22, and 24.
Garcia said no quizzes and submission of assignments will be allowed during the break.
“This schedule is without prejudice to compliance with the minimum number of synchronous or face-to-face sessions required for each course,” Garcia said.
Earlier this week, student groups urged the school administration to reimplement the two-day academic break policy after every major examination.
They said that in-person and online classes took a huge toll on learners’ mental and physical health.
They also believed that the short break will benefit both the faculty and the students after a “heavy examination week.”
