TIP STUDENTS SHINE IN 2023 BPI-DOST AWARDS
ELECTRONICS Engineering students from the Technological University of the Philippines Quezon City won the Best Project of the Year at the recently concluded 2023 BPI-DOST Innovation Awards.
Team Rad Tech composed of Joanna Keith Ildefonso, Orwell Orit, Liezl Lalaine Patrimonio, and Keanu Readova worked on a project called “HandMATE.”
The project aims to facilitate the hand rehabilitation of patients recovering from stroke.
“The device was designed with sensors and other integrated technologies to reestablish connections between nerve cells, restore motor skills, and monitor the healing progress of those who would use it,” TIP said.
Engr. John Joel Martinez served as the student’s mentor.
The BPI–DOST Innovation Awards, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute, is a competition that challenges Filipino students of Basic and Applied Sciences to actively participate in resolving the country’s most pressing socio-economic problems.
