STUDENTS QUESTION PLM PREPAREDNESS

/ 7 October 2020

AN ALLIANCE of student organizations in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila claimed that the school’s preparations for the opening of classes was wanting, saying students are groping to understand the flexible learning system.

The Bukluran Student alliance questioned the university’s claim that it was fully prepared for the school opening.

The group said that PLM’s preparedness was not felt on the student level.

“Nariyan na ang unos, at nandito pa rin tayo —nangangapa sa sistema, at maraming tanong na hindi nasasagot. A people’s caring university pa rin ba na maituturing kung hindi isinasaalang-alang ang kalagayan ng bawat isang mag-aaral? ‘All set’ na ang Pamantasan, ngunit ramdam ba ito sa hanay ng mag-aaral?” it said on Facebook.

Several PLM students backed the alliance’s claim about the school’s readiness.

“ANONG ALL SET DI NGA AKO PAPASOK BUKAS KASI WALA AKONG OUTLOOK ACC,” “plm nga nakikita kong di pa handa, ako pa kaya?” “Dipa ready,” “No Student Shall Left Behind daw ‘di ba?” some posted on social media.

The statements came following the claim of the university that it was fully ready for the opening of classes because it spent months preparing for it.

The school said that it held class simulations, conducted faculty training and system enhancements to establish its ‘new normal’ digital learning platform.

The university started classes on October 5, 2020.
