SOUTHERN LEYTE STATE U LAUNCHES COMMUNITY LIBRARY
THE SOUTHERN Leyte State University launched a community library to promote reading among children.
The Community Library and Art Assistance Project located in Barangay San Roque, Sogod is an extension project of the Institute of Arts and Sciences, the University Library, and the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
The books were turned over in a ceremony led by University President Dr. Jude Duarte and the barangay chairman of San Roque, Reynil Tadtad.
SLSU said that the project is focused on library management, collection development and capacity building.
“The University will assist CDC teachers in redesigning instructional materials through art and craft, and other necessary learning materials like guidebooks, workbooks, and audio-visual learning materials, and provide aid in setting up a community library in terms of the solicitation, collection, organization, and classification of books,” it said.
