THE SORSOGON State College is now a university, the Commission on Higher Education said.

CHED Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag announced on Wednesday that the CHED’s En Banc approved SSC’s conversion to a university after it fully complied with the necessary requirements.

“With full compliance to all prescribed requirements for university-hood, the Commission En Banc approved the conversion of Sorsogon State College into SORSOGON STATE UNIVERSITY. Congratulations, SSU!” Darilag said on Facebook.

Sorsogon Governor and former Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero lauded the university personnel for their achievement.

“It gives me great honor and pride to congratulate the board, faculty, staff and students of the Sorsogon State University after CHED approved its conversion today per its Chairman Popoy De Vera,” Escudero said on social media.

Netizens and students also expressed their pride, noting the coming changes in the university.
