SILLIMAN U NURSING RESEARCH WINS BIG AT ICONS13
TWO research papers from Silliman University won second-place honors in their respective categories at the 13th International Conference of Nurses (ICONS13) held last month in Cebu City.
Dr. Theresa A. Guino-o, Assistant Professor Zorinna M. Luague, Assistant Professor Uenavil Anne E. Junio, and Dr. Evalyn E. Abalos won second place in the professional category for their study, “Capacity Building for Mental Health of Older Persons: A Participatory Research.”
The study addressed the mental health challenges of older adults with limited resources, assessing and implementing culturally appropriate interventions to support their well-being.
In the student category, SUCN students led by Irielle Gerlette Torremocha and Anjeli Merecido earned second place for their research, “Adherence to Therapeutic Management of Chronic Conditions Among Older Persons.”
The study examined chronic illnesses in older adults and identified barriers to treatment adherence, emphasizing the need for patient-centered, culturally sensitive healthcare strategies.
Themed “Achieving Equity and Sustainable Development through Evidence-Based and Innovative Nursing Practice,” ICONS13 gathered nursing professionals and students to discuss advancements in equitable and sustainable healthcare.
