A PROJECT proposed by Samar State University was among the Top 10 entries across the globe in the 2023 GIX Innovation Competition.

Mark Cris, Seth Paul Babayson, Leander Fajardo, Harvey Tan and Engr. Nikko Ardel Flortes collaborated for the project “Fishpond Monitoring with Alarm System.”

Their entry identifies and monitors water quality of fishponds by introducing feasible technological innovations such as sensors and utilize them to help small pond owners keep their fish healthy.

The project is the lone Philippine entry in the competition organized by the University of Washington.

“For the University, this is already a victory being relevant to the communities it serve,” SSU said in a statement.
