QUALIFIED scholars of the University of the East for the first semester of Academic Year 2021-2022 will be notified by end of August, UE President Ester Garcia said.

Garcia issued the statement after denying the request to release the initial list of scholars citing privacy issues.

“According to the dialogue yesterday, President Garcia noted that the notification for the scholarship would be sent through an email individually by the end of August in respect of Data Privacy,” Central Student Council President Saida Manap said.

“The school’s scholarship committee is now finalizing the tentative list of scholars,” she added.

Earlier this week, students requested the college deans to immediately release the tentative list of qualified scholars saying it is the least thing the university could give students since school officials stood firm on imposing new policies regarding scholarship grants.

Garcia, however, stressed that the school’s Data Privacy officer warned her about the rules under the data privacy law.
