PLM STUDENTS WIN TOP PRIZE IN DESIGN INNOVATION CONTEST
ENGINEERING students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila clinched the top prize in the Maxim Integrated Philippines’ Design Innovation Contest.
‘Team Heisenberg’, composed of Electronics Engineering students Argen Mary Arceño, Rollison Joshua Tabuyan, Ronn Joaquin Cuenco, Mave Rick Credo, and Michael Buenviaje, bested six finalists in the national competition.
The team bagged the Spotlight Award and were declared as champions for its proposal of a voice-controlled ultraviolet sterilization robot for disinfection. The design also provides features for monitoring purposes.
PLM President Emmanuel Leyco congratulated the students for showing their technical skills amid the pandemic.
“You are indeed bright spots during these dark days. Again, congratulations and may you continue to use your skills for the betterment of our nation!” he said.
The virtual competition ran from January 13 to April 6.
Maxim Integrated, a semiconductors producer, pledged a P50,000 prize along with a certificate and plaque of recognition for the best design that incorporated the company’s products.
