THE Occidental Mindoro State College has inked a pact with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University for research, extension, and development of sericulture and apiculture.

Under the partnership, the two universities will collaborate on projects beekeeping industry and mulberry, silkworm, and post-cocoon research and development.

Skills training, research, extension, and production initiatives are expected to be conducted during the project, with the first training in March 2024.

The two institutions will be represented by two specialized faculty members.

“It is hoped that this partnership will sow the seed for the establishment of apiculture and sericulture in the province, which will help build skills and create opportunities for farmers,” OMSC said.

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the two universities at the DMMMSU – North La Union Campus, Bacnotan during OMSC’s visit on January 16 to 17.

OMSC has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aklan State University, University of Southeastern Philippines, Camarines Norte State College, University of Northern Philippines, Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology for internationalization initiatives.
