NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE U FACULTY GETS JICA SCHOLARSHIP
AN INSTRUCTOR of the Negros Oriental State University won a full scholarship from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Meljun Banogon, a faculty of the university’s Social Sciences Department, will study in the Tohoku University.
Banogon’s scholarship is from JICA’s Knowledge Co-Creation Program. The program aims to provide sustainable capacity development for young leaders with emphasis on specialized technical training in various fields.
“It is with great pride that I have been awarded to attend the KCCP knowing that I am the only recipient who is from the Visayas. The other three are from Luzon and the rest sa Mindanao,” Banogon said.
He added that the program will improve his knowledge based on the concept of “co-creation,” which produces new values through interactive learning among the participating countries and Japan.
“My aim is to take advantage of the opportunity to know potential colleagues there so I can go back in the future,” he added.
Banogon applied for the scholarship in October 2020. He got his acceptance letter on February 5.
