THE MINDANAO State University – Iligan Institute of Technology and Hasselt University in Belgium forged a partnership agreement to collaborate on the International Training Programme project.

The implementation of the project dubbed “Co-CiPhil: Co-creating environmental citizen science capacity in the Philippines” is also in partnership with the Visayas State University.

“Since 2019, UHasselt has been in active collaboration and cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in capacity building, mentoring, and curriculum development,” MSU-IIT said.

A €150,000 grant was awarded to the MSU-IIT and VSU by the Flemish Interuniversity Council-University Development Cooperation for the implementation of the project.

Through the project, a series of workshops will be conducted and co-organized by the three universities in the next two years.

UHasselt Professor Dr. Thomas Neyens will lead the project while Dr. Daisy Lou Polestico will be principal MSU-IIT co-promoter.

Dr. Ruth Serquiña, Associate Prof. Johniel Babiera, Dr. Bernadette Tubo, and Dr. Peter Suson will serve team members.

Also involved in the project are Asst. Prof. Amabelle Embornas, Asst. Prof. Jaime Guihawan and Prof. Emeritus Olga Nuñeza.
