MORE SCHOOLS SET UP COMMUNITY PANTRIES
SCHOOLS have also caught the kindness virus and set up their own community pantries to help the needy.
The Polytechnic University of the Philippines campuses in Manila and Maragondon and the Cavite State University established their own community pantries on Friday.
The PUP main campus said that the initiative is part of its “Lingap Komunidad Extension Project.”
The target beneficiaries are students, employees, faculty members, and residents of adopted barangays.
PUP appealed to kind-hearted individuals who want to help to drop off their donations at the gates of the campus.
“If you wish to donate, you can proceed to the main gate of PUP Sta. Mesa Campus,” PUP said on Facebook.
PUP Mulanay Campus also opened its community pantry on Wednesday to help farmers who can’t sell their produce.
Meanwhile, the community pantries of the PUP campus in Maragondon and CVSU were opened in Barangays Halayhay and Julugan.
“Pinag-aral kami gamit ang buwis ng taumbayan kaya oras na para magbalik ng tulong sa mamamayan,” the groups behind the initiative said.
“Maaari ring kumuha batay sa pangangailangan. Bukas po ang community pantry sa lahat —magsasaka, mangingisda, estudyante, walang trabaho,” they added.
