THE UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines turned over a multi-purpose building to an indigenous community in Barangay Santa Cruz, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

The turnover was dubbed ‘Balay Tulugan’ for the Higaonon Tribe community and to be used as part of its community extension activities to help poor communities.

The university aims to help communities considered Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.

Tribal clothing was also turned over to the IPs in the area.

A dialogue was also conducted between community leaders and university affiliates to discuss IP rights and environmental protection.

The program was a collaboration of USTP’s Extension and Community Relations Office and Auxiliary Management Services.
