THE DAVAO del Sur State College has received a grant from the Department of Agriculture for the establishment of a bamboo hub in the province.

Officials from DSSC and DA signed a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the DA will provide the school P20 million for the procurement of bamboo processing equipment, hauling truck, and the building of the Bamboo Hub Processing Building and Training Hall.

The project dubbed “Bamboo Rural Enterprise and Development” aims to help small and medium entrepreneurs and farmers by “acquiring knowledge on bamboo and enterprise activities.”

“DA-RFO XI agreed to extend technical services as may be needed by the DSSC relative to project operation in close coordination with the Provincial and Municipal Agriculture’s Office,” the school said on its website.

“DSSC agreed to create technical manpower requirement for the operation of the project, and complete the project within 200 calendar days,” it added.
