DLSU PROF NAMED ONE OF ASIA’S TOP 100 SCIENTISTS
A CHEMICAL engineering professor of the De La Salle University was named one of Asia’s 100 top scientists by a Singaporean-based magazine.
Dr. Kathleen Aviso, assistant dean for research and advanced studies of DLSU’s College of Engineering, was recognized for her significant contributions to environmental systems engineering.
“Aviso received the 2020 Dr. Michael Purvis Award for Sustainability Research. Aviso, together with other DLSU researchers, developed an anti-viral and vaccine allocation model which can help minimize Covid19 mortality rates in the country,” DLSU said.
To be included in the list, the researcher must have received a national or international award in the preceding year for his or her research area, made a significant scientific discovery, or taken on a leadership role in academe or industry.
ASM recognizes the region’s exemplary researchers, highlighting their achievements across a range of scientific fields.
“As Covid19 made its relentless spread across the world last year, scientists from across Asia rose to the occasion and joined forces to stop the coronavirus in its track,” ASM said.
