CAGAYAN State University President Urdujah G. Alvarado partnered with Cavite State University President Dr. Hernando D. Robles to establish a coffee production and processing center in Cagayan province.
Alvarado and other CSU officials visited CvSU to check its National Coffee Research, Development, and Extension Center.
Alvarado was accompanied by Vice President Junel B. Guzman, Director for Extension Josie Y. Bas-ong, and Director for Knowledge and Technology Management Gilbert C. Magulod Jr.
The officials hope to learn the best practices of the CvSU’s RDE center to jump-start the Cagayan coffee industry.
They discussed with CvSU officials the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and resources on coffee production and processing, development of environmentally sound processing and production technologies, training of coffee specialists, and planning for support policies in boosting Coffee RDE in the country.
Alvarado hopes to promote coffee production and processing among the vast agricultural campuses of CSU where research, instruction, extension and production activities are integrated.
The project aims to increase productivity, sustainability, and global competitiveness of Philippine coffee.
