/ 7 July 2023

THE CENTRAL Luzon State University is hosting nine foreign students under the Fulbright-Hays Program funded by the United States Department of Education.

Eight students are from the Northern Illinois University and one from the College of DuPage.

With them are two NIU professors and a professor from Sauk Valley Community College.

They will be part of a project launched by the CLSU College of Arts and Sciences titled “The Philippines’ Coffee and Carabao Culture and Language: Tagalog Language Immersion in Northern and Southern Rural Philippines.”

“The CLSU will facilitate the northern Philippines leg of the program from July 1 to 26, after they completed their activities organized by the Cavite State University from June 6 to 30, 2023,” CLSU said.

The visitors will participate in cultural activities like discussions on indigenous people, rice planting, learning Philippine language and culture, cooking Filipino dishes, and radio broadcasting.

Through these activities, the participants “are expected to learn Filipino values and traditions,” the university said.

CLSU President Dr. Edgar Orden, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, VP for Administration Dr. Evaristo Abella, and CASS acting dean Dr. Jay Santos welcomed the participants.
