A SENIOR accountancy student of the Centro Escolar University was the second runner-up in the Bureau of Internal Revenue Philippines’ Brightest Buwis Masters.

Joane Kazaira Biaco bested 46 other college students in two rounds of Tax Quiz to win in the competition.

The competition sought to promote awareness and understanding of the country’s tax laws and regulations among the youth sector and to equip them with the necessary skills that will enable them to contribute efficiently to the nation’s tax system.

The quiz primarily focused on income, value-added and percentage taxes, along with taxpayer registration requirements.

“Joane advanced in the national level of the competition at the BIR national office in Quezon City and competed against the top 3 winners from 22 BIR Regional Offices,” CEU said.

“The Top 3 grand winners of the National Tax Quiz will be declared as the Philippines’ Brightest Buwis Masters of 2023 and will receive plaques of recognition, while their respective college/university will receive a trophy,” it added.
