CATSU SUSPENDS POLICY ON WEARING OF UNIFORM
THE CATANDUANES State University suspended the use of uniforms in recognition of gender diversity.
“The Article III, Section 1.3 in the CatSU Student Handbook was established on the binary gender system whose imposition to the emerging genders is insensitive and inconsiderate of their self-esteem and high value for identity and expression,” CatSU President Dr. Patrick Azanza said.
Azansa said that the university recognizes the financial woes of students in procuring uniforms amid the pandemic.
“For the above-cited reasons, the wearing of the prescribed student school uniform is hereby suspended until further notice,” he added.
Students who already have uniforms, on the other hand, can use their sets if they so wish.
