ATENEO RESUMES CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE SUMMER CAMP
AFTER three years, the Ateneo de Manila resumed its Confucius Institute Summer Camp held in China earlier this month.
Sixteen students from various schools participated in the program. All of them passed the HSK Level 2 examination to qualify for the program.
The trip started in Beijing, where the participants visited China’s most famous sites, such as the Great Wall, Tian’anmen Square, the Summer Palace, and Beijing Olympic Park.
“By seeing these places firsthand, they were able to learn about China’s fascinating history and rich culture,” the university said.
They attended classes at Sun Yat-sen University, where they took intensive courses in Practical Chinese Conversation, Chinese Knots, Chinese Fan Design, Taijiquan, Chinese Pottery, Chinese Traditional Clothing, and Chinese Tea Appreciation.
The participants also toured famous spots in Guangzhou, namely the Chen Clan Academy, Guangzhou Library, Shamian Island, and the iconic Guangzhou Tower.
“All of these activities, including meals and accommodations, were subsidized by Sun Yat-sen University and the Chinese International Educational Foundation,” Ateneo said.
“Through this Summer Camp, the Ateneo Confucius Institute hopes to encourage more Filipino students to learn about China’s history, culture, language, and modern society, as well as develop friendly and lasting relationships between Filipino students, Chinese students, and teachers,” it added.
