SOLON BACKS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF SUBSIDIES, VOUCHER AID FOR PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS
TINGOG Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre has called for the immediate release of pending government subsidies and voucher assistance for private schools for Calendar Year 2025–2026.
Acidre, chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, issued the statement following appeals from the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines and the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Catholic Education urging the government to fast-track the release of financial assistance.
According to the lawmaker, delays in the disbursement of subsidies have already placed a heavy burden on financially vulnerable educational institutions grappling with rising operational expenses.
He stressed that the assistance remains vital to the continued operation of many private schools, particularly those that rely heavily on government support.
Acidre noted that several beneficiary schools are small, mission-driven institutions serving low-income families and underserved communities, making the timely release of assistance even more crucial.
The solon also emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure the prompt distribution of educational aid to help schools sustain operations and continue providing quality education to students
