ANGARA HONORS TEACHERS FOR DEDICATION, SACRIFICE IN SHAPING THE NATION’S FUTURE
EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara recognized the tireless efforts and sacrifices of teachers who continue to ensure quality education across the Philippines.
“Sa ating minamahal na mga guro sa bawat sulok ng bansa, nais ko kayong batiin at pasalamatan para sa inyong tiyaga, malasakit, at tahimik na kabayanihan sa loob ng ating mga silid-aralan,” Angara said, praising teachers for their unwavering commitment.
Angara emphasized that teachers remain at the heart of the country’s drive to strengthen the education system.
In recent months, the Department of Education (DepEd) conducted visits to hundreds of schools nationwide, engaging with teachers and school heads to hear firsthand their concerns and suggestions for improving the system. These consultations led to policy updates on classroom observations, overtime and overload pay, and initiatives to reduce administrative workload.
“Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., malinaw ang ating pangako na patuloy na pagbubutihin ang kalagayan ng ating mga guro at itataas ang antas ng suporta sa inyo,” Angara said.
DepEd has also expanded concrete support for educators, including distributing laptops and learning materials and implementing the Expanded Career Progression System to provide clearer promotion pathways for teachers and school heads. The department aims to promote up to 100,000 teachers and school heads by the end of the year.
“Titiyakin natin na ang mga gurong humuhubog sa kinabukasan ng ating bansa ay nabibigyan din ng pagkakataong umunlad at magkaroon ng mas magandang buhay,” Angara added.
As the school year ends, Angara encouraged educators to rest and recharge during the month-long summer break beginning April 1, acknowledging their hard work throughout the academic year.
