VSU FORGED THREE KEY PARTNERSHIPS TO BOOST TECH COMMERCIALIZATION AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS

/ 2 March 2026

THE VISAYAS State University formalized three strategic partnerships aimed at fast-tracking the transfer of university-developed technologies to both industry players and local communities.

University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes signed separate memoranda of agreement with World Vision Development Foundation, Inc., and two private firms.

These collaborations underscore VSU’s commitment to ensure that research outputs undergo rigorous validation, meet production standards, and receive sustained institutional support beyond formal agreements.

Facilitated by the university’s Knowledge Product and Commercialization Office and the Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator under the RAISE 8 Phase 2 program, the partnerships are designed to convert research innovations into viable enterprises and development projects.

One agreement supports entrepreneur Jesus Felipe D. Subingsubing of JF Healthy Farm as an incubatee for tarroz wine production, providing technical mentoring, market development assistance, and quality monitoring, backed by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development, and the Philippine Root Crop Research and Training Center.

Another collaboration involves Five Shepherds Corporation, which will fabricate and commercialize a cassava grates processing system developed by VSU, expanding access to portable, cost-efficient agro-processing equipment for farmers and enterprises.

The third partnership mobilizes VSU’s expertise in agriculture and food processing to support World Vision’s poverty alleviation initiatives in the Visayas. University research and innovation officials witnessed the signing, highlighting efforts to make academic research both commercially sustainable and socially impactful.
