RETIRED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS IN MANILA TO RECEIVE PENSION
AROUND 3,000 retired public school teachers in the City of Manila are set to receive their long-awaited monthly pensions covering January to December 2025, amounting to a total of ₱18 million.
The announcement was made by Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso during Monday’s regular flag-raising ceremony led by the Department of Environment and Public Services.
Moreno said each qualified retiree will receive ₱6,000, equivalent to ₱500 per month for 12 months, under Manila City Ordinance No. 7977.
The ordinance grants an Old Age Sustenance Allowance to retired teachers aged 70 and above.
“Many thanks to our taxpayers. By the grace of God, and through the hard work of our government employees and various departments, we continue to address previous obligations, even if these did not arise during my term. What matters most is that we recognize and fulfill these prior commitments,” Moreno said.
The mayor emphasized that settling past financial obligations remains part of the city government’s commitment to responsible governance and social welfare.
Moreno also expressed gratitude to Manila City Hall employees for their dedication, noting that during the Love Month celebration, residents have been able to enjoy free activities and public services, contributing to a vibrant and festive atmosphere across the capital.
City officials said the release of the pension allowance underscores the local government’s continued support for retired educators who dedicated decades of service to Manila’s youth.
