ATENEO STUDENTS ADVANCE TO FINALS OF CHINA-ASEAN INNOVATION QUEST

/ 5 November 2025

STUDENTS from the Ateneo de Manila University emerged as one of the top teams in the ASEAN leg of the China-ASEAN Innovation Quest 2025.

Soj Gamayon, Edge Angeles, and Mat Jirvonn Reyes were recognized for their project, AgriConnect.

The project secured a spot among the Top 3 Teams for its innovative approach to enhancing agricultural connectivity and resource access, providing farmers with an efficient platform to boost productivity and sustainability.

The team was mentored by Mariela Alcaparas from the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office.

They will represent the Philippines in the international finals to be held on December 2–3 in Guilin, China, where they will compete against top innovators from across the ASEAN region and China.

The competition’s regional round, held last month at Sunway University in Malaysia, gathered student innovators from Southeast Asia who presented solutions in cybersecurity, agriculture technology, and disaster risk management.
