TARLAC STATE U PARTNERS WITH DSWD TARLAC

/ 20 October 2025

TARLAC State University’s College of Business and Accountancy has recently partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Home for Women in Tarlac.

The collaboration, titled “Igniting Women in Transition,” aims to empower women under residential care by equipping them with entrepreneurial and technical skills to promote economic self-sufficiency.

CBA faculty members will lead capacity-building programs and mentorship sessions designed to help women residents develop livelihood projects and engage in income-generating activities.

The training programs include lessons on financial literacy, technical skills, and pilot testing for small and medium enterprises. There are also plans to link locally crafted products to cooperatives, markets, and online platforms.

TSU President Dr. Arnold Velasco emphasized the university’s commitment to community service, saying that helping those who cannot repay is both a blessing and an act of generosity aligned with the university’s core values.

DSWD Home for Women head Jacqueline Bautista said the partnership supports their goal of empowering women survivors of abuse to rebuild their lives. Meanwhile, CBA faculty member Dr. Elvira Mercado added that the initiative seeks to foster resilience and growth among participants.
