/ 12 October 2025

A FACULTY member of Visayas State University has once again been named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in the latest global rankings released by Elsevier and Stanford University.
The 2025 edition, released on September 20, recognizes Dr. Janet Alexis A. De los Santos as one of only 69 Filipino researchers on the list—and the lone representative from Eastern Visayas.
Specializing in Public Health and Health Services with a focus on Nursing, she ranked 307th globally within her subfield and 129,669th across all scientific disciplines.
Her research, which includes highly cited studies on COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS, continues to advance conversations around inclusive healthcare and stigma reduction.
Notable recent publications include a scoping review on HIV prevention among high-risk Philippine populations and a widely cited paper on the role of barangay health workers in the HIV response.
Beyond research, she currently serves as Secretary of the Philippine One Health University Network, further cementing her role as a leader in the country’s health sciences community.
