BICOL UNIVERSITY SUSPENDS WORK AND SHIFTS CLASSES TO ASYNCHRONOUS MODE AFTER BOMB THREATS

/ 9 October 2025

BICOL University suspended work and shifted classes to asynchronous mode on Wednesday following bomb threats targeting several of its campuses.
In a public advisory, the university announced that effective 12:00 noon, all work in offices and colleges at BU East, West, and Daraga campuses was suspended until further notice. Classes in these campuses were also ordered to shift to asynchronous mode.
According to BU, the decision came after receiving explicit bomb threats through its official social media page, specifically mentioning the BU West and Daraga campuses.
“This measure is being implemented to allow for a thorough safety assessment of the concerned areas and to ensure the security and well-being of all university personnel and students. BU does not take this matter lightly,” the statement read.
The university assured the public that it is taking the threats seriously and is coordinating with authorities to implement all necessary safety precautions.
