/ 8 September 2025

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian on Sunday called for greater support for teachers as the nation celebrates National Teachers’ Month, stressing that honoring their dedication should come with concrete measures to uplift their welfare.

“As we celebrate National Teachers’ Month, I join all Filipinos in honoring our teachers whose dedication shapes the future of our nation. There is no better way to thank them than by upholding their welfare and boosting their morale,” Gatchalian said.

The senator highlighted his continued push for the Revised Magna Carta for Public School Teachers and the Teacher Salary Increase Act, which proposes a ₱20,000 across-the-board salary hike for public school teachers.

As chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Gatchalian also assured that the education budget being crafted in Congress will strike a balance between supporting learners and uplifting the teaching workforce.

“Our education budget must not only benefit our learners but also support our teachers,” he emphasized.
