/ 27 August 2025

FACULTY members from the Department of Pharmacy of the University of San Carlos (USC) presented their research at two international conferences in the fields of clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical research, and pharmacy education held in Indonesia and Japan.

Undergraduate Program Coordinator Micah M. Areja presented her study, “Development and Implementation of an Interprofessional Education Activity with its Impact in Third Year Health Care Students,” during the 24th Asian Conference on Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) held in Bali, Indonesia, on July 24–26, 2025.

Department Chair Florencio V. Arce Jr. also shared his research, “Mutagenicity, Genotoxicity, and Chronic Toxicity of Formulated Spray-Dried Extracts from Philippine Ethnopharmacological Plants,” at the Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AASP) Conference in Saitama, Japan, on August 2–4, 2025.

At the same AASP conference, Gerard Lee L. See, Dean of the School of Health Care Professions, presented his work on “Development of Virgin Coconut Oil-Based Neomycin-Loaded Nanostructured Lipid Carrier Spray Formulations for Skin Delivery.”

The ACCP, established in 1999, is an annual gathering of clinical pharmacists, educators, and researchers across Asia, serving as a platform to exchange best practices, advance research, and build collaborations.

This year’s ACCP carried the theme “Beyond the Limit: Advancements and Innovation of Asian Clinical Pharmacy,” emphasizing the growing role of clinical pharmacy as an indispensable function in patient care.
