OVER 10K TABLETS, 1.5K LAPTOPS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO CALOOCAN TEACHERS, STUDENTS
THE CITY Government of Caloocan is set to distribute more than 10,000 smart tablets and 1,500 laptops to public school students and teachers in a bid to strengthen education delivery and keep pace with modern learning needs.
According to the city government, the devices will be turned over in bulk to the Schools Division Office, which will oversee distribution to designated schools and beneficiaries.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said the initiative underscores the city’s push to digitalize education, ensuring learners and teachers are better equipped for new modes of instruction.
“This school year, we have 260,960 enrollees, making Caloocan the second city with the most number of learners in Metro Manila. We know there are still challenges in the education sector, but what matters is that we continue providing our students with modern learning tools,” Malapitan said.
He added that while the city initially focused on upgrading classrooms and facilities, the next priority is equipping schools with gadgets, IT resources, smart classrooms, and laboratories to help students adapt to the digital age.
The distribution of tablets and laptops is targeted before the end of 2025.
