DEPED CHIEF INSPECTS SCHOOL IN DAVAO DAMAGED BY EARTHQUAKE
DEPARTMENT of Education Secretary Sonny Angara visited Matanao National High School in Davao del Sur to inspect school buildings damaged by the 2019 earthquake.
Angara ordered an immediate assessment of the damage to facilitate proper planning and the implementation of necessary solutions.
He also checked the school’s temporary learning spaces, which currently consist of 33 classrooms.
During the visit, Angara emphasized the importance of conducting soil testing to determine the allowable height for any new school buildings DepEd may construct in the area.
In addition, Angara led the turnover of 10 laptops and 10 tablets to the school, saying the donated devices would greatly support the school’s digital learning initiatives.
“Maraming salamat din po kina Vice Governor at ating former colleague sa Kongreso na si Marc Cagas, Mayor Irick Agbon, DepEd Regional Director Allan Farnazo, SDS Lorenzo Mendoza, PSDS Elizabeth Bernaldez, Principal Rey Florentino, at sa buong Matanao National High School sa mainit nilang pagtanggap,” Angara said.
