DPWH COMPLETES FLOOD-RESILIENT CLASSROOMS IN NUEVA ECIJA

/ 17 March 2025

THE DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways has completed a flood-resilient school building at Calagundian Elementary School in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

The two-story, four-classroom building spans 437 square meters.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan reported that the school frequently experiences flooding, even during moderate rainfall.

He explained that such incidents disrupt classes, often leading to cancellations.

“To address this, we constructed the new building on an elevated foundation, raising it by one meter to prevent floodwaters from affecting classrooms and to ensure a safer, more resilient learning space,” Panaligan said.

OIC-Assistant District Engineer Leonora Cruz emphasized the importance of the project, noting that a conducive learning environment is essential for quality education.
