MSU-IIT CLIMBS GLOBAL RANKINGS IN WEBOMETRICS 2025

THE MINDANAO State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) has improved its global standing in the 2025 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

MSU-IIT now ranks 3,317th worldwide, moving up from 3,387th last year.

In the Philippines, MSU-IIT placed 8th among the top 10 universities, with University of the Philippines Diliman leading the list, followed by De La Salle University, the UP System, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, Mapúa University, and UP Manila.

Among MSU campuses, MSU-IIT emerged as the highest-ranked, outperforming:

MSU-Marawi (4,180th)

MSU-Naawan (7,826th)

MSU-General Santos (9,040th)

MSU-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (TCTO) (14,799th)

Meanwhile, the entire MSU System ranked 20,312th globally.

Webometrics, published by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council, evaluates universities worldwide using three key indicators:

Visibility (50%) – measures website impact and external linkages

Transparency (10%) – based on top researchers’ citations

Excellence (40%) – determined by the number of highly cited research papers across multiple disciplines

“MSU-IIT continues to solidify its reputation as a research powerhouse, as evidenced by its stellar citation count of 27,698 from the Google Scholar profiles of its top researchers. In the Transparent Ranking of Universities, MSU-IIT ranks 6th among 42 universities in the country,” the school stated.
