VSU PROGRAM SECURES CHED COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION
A PROGRAM at the Visayas State University main campus has officially received the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
The BS Mechanical Engineering program at VSU is the first in the Visayas region to earn a COPC under CHED’s updated guidelines, confirming that it meets national standards for academic quality and compliance.
The certification was granted on January 17, just ahead of the original deadline for the February 2025 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination application. PRC later extended the deadline for graduates from programs still awaiting COPC approval.
Dr. Jannet Bencure, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, expressed gratitude to VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy Yepes for their support in securing the certification.
The certification process included a thorough review of faculty qualifications, facilities, student support services, and the university’s implementation of Outcome-Based Engineering Education, ensuring that VSU’s BSME graduates meet industry standards and are eligible for licensure examinations.
Meanwhile, VSU Isabel is working toward securing its own COPC, with a scheduled CHED evaluation visit in late February 2025. Despite this, its graduates have been granted eligibility to take the MELE following an appeal made by VSU and PASUC 8 to CHED and PRC.
President Yepes expressed appreciation for CHED and PRC’s recognition of their request, assuring that VSU Isabel is taking the necessary steps to comply with CHED’s standards.
