SOLON HIGHLIGHTS ₱80M SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR DAYCARE WORKERS IN 2025 BUDGET

/ 13 January 2025

HOUSE Committee on Basic Education Chairman and Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo commended the allocation of ₱80 million for a scholarship fund for daycare workers in the 2025 national budget, citing the importance of early childhood care.

“Studies show that a child’s brain development is most critical before the age of five,” Romulo said. “This is when lifelong learning, behavior, and health foundations are established. Investing in those who nurture our youngest learners is essential.”

The scholarship fund will equip daycare workers with skills in child development, nutrition, and pedagogy, enabling them to provide higher-quality care for children under five years old. Romulo stressed that better-trained daycare workers could address developmental delays and undernutrition among children early.

He also underscored the program’s role in professionalizing the daycare workforce and encouraged local governments and stakeholders to support the initiative.

“Investing in early childhood care is an investment in our children and our nation’s future,” Romulo concluded.
