DLSU-D STUDENTS JOIN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FACT-CHECKING, MEDIA LITERACY

STUDENTS from De La Salle University Dasmariñas participated in the Annie School Net Conference in Vietnam.

The students, Russel Aguila and Gywneth Aristo, are from the Communication and Journalism Department. They presented at the conference about their fact-checking journey and outputs as part of the memorandum of understanding with ANNIE.

Twelve educational institutions from various Asian countries, including India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, attended the conference. The event focused on fact-checking, promoting media literacy, and fostering networks for responsible communication education. It aimed to empower students to champion fact-checking and enhance media literacy across the region.

Annie Lab is a student-driven fact-checking newsroom established in 2019 by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre at the University of Hong Kong and ANNIE (Asian Network of News & Information Educators). Annie Lab is a verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network, committed to political non-partisanship, fairness, accuracy, transparency, and professional rigor. In November 2023, it also became a member of the Vaccine Safety Net by the World Health Organization.
