SOLON PUSHES FOR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR OFW DEPENDENTS
CAVITE Seventh District Representative Crispin Diego Remulla is advocating for an educational scholarship program for the immediate dependents of overseas Filipino workers.
In his House Bill 11027, also known as the proposed OFW Dependents Scholarship Act, Remulla aims to provide educational scholarships to immediate dependents of OFWs who have died or suffered total and permanent disabilities while working abroad.
“By ensuring that these dependents have access to education, the government is also ensuring that the affected families are empowered with the knowledge necessary for personal and professional growth,” he said.
The measure, the lawmaker added, will help ensure a better future for the children left behind through education.
The bill applies to immediate dependents of OFWs, whether documented or undocumented, who have died or suffered permanent disabilities. It also stipulates that dependents must be interested and qualified to pursue an educational course or training.
