POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines President Dr. Manuel Muhi was named as the grand winner of the White and Case Government Organization of the Year for 15th Asia CEO Awards 2024.

The award recognized PUP’s outstanding leadership and commitment to Environment, Social, and Governance.

Under Dr. Muhi’s leadership, PUP has made strides in inclusive education through initiatives like the University Pantry, which aids marginalized communities, and the Education on Wheels program, which ensures educational access for all, particularly in underserved areas.

These efforts, PUP said, have been pivotal during and after the pandemic, maintaining educational continuity and addressing social disparities.

“Further, its transformational university leadership, ethical stewardship of resources, effective human resource management, and smart campuses are truly what make PUP a model governance organization,” PUP said.

“This award affirms the commitment to excellence of PUP, the University aims for outstanding performance in teaching and learning, research, extension services and community engagements, and internal governance. PUP acts in ways that reflect continuing improvement and innovation; adhere to high standards; and demonstrate resilience and perseverance,” it added.

The Asia CEO Awards, now in its 15th year, honors exceptional achievements across business, government, and social sectors. The White & Case Government Organization of the Year category specifically highlights government entities that excel in public service, innovation, and sustainable practices.
