MAKATI LGU CONTINUES FREE VAX FOR STUDENTS
THE LOCAL government of Makati City has continued its Bakuna Eskwela or the free school-based immunization program for Grade 1, Grade 4, and Grade 7 students.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay said that the program targets to vaccinate 7,621 students from 24 public elementary and high schools in the city from October 11 to November 22, 2024.
This initiative is part of Makati’s ongoing efforts to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases, including measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and human papillomavirus, she said.
Binay added that the school-based immunization program is an important step in protecting the health of children and ensuring that they have enough protection while continuing their education in a safe environment.
“Makati has always put the health of our students first. By resuming our school-based immunization program, we are taking another important step in safeguarding our children’s health and ensuring they have the protection they need as they continue their education in a safe environment,” the mayor said.
Early October, the Department of Education and the Department of Health launched Bakuna Eskwela to protect students from life-threatening vaccine-preventable diseases.
