1PACMAN Party-list Rep. Michael Romero has filed a measure seeking to strengthen the governance of basic education, and increase the Basic Education Research Fund.

Romero’s House Bill 10735, or the proposed Basic Education Research Fund Act of 2024, aims to promote accountability and authority.

The solon stressed the need to review the mandate and flow of operations of all government agencies involved in the production and distribution of all school facilities and programs.

This is to improve synergy under the mandate of the Constitution.

“Data unveiled the education agenda and focused on curriculum reform, accelerated delivery of services, promoting the well-being of learners, and providing greater support to teachers,” Romero said in his explanatory note.

The lawmaker stressed that in acknowledging the government’s accountability to the nation’s young learners, DEPED promised to build better infrastructure by investing heavily in education.

The bill also sets a manifestation of the freedom of education to be accorded due respect and be allowed to flourish.
