SOLON EXPRESSES CONCERN ON DEPED’S COLOR GUIDELINES FOR THE ALTERNATE UNIFORM FOR TEACHERS
ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro on Tuesday expressed concerns on the Department of Education's guidelines for the alternate uniform for teaching and education support personnel during the dry season.
ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro on Tuesday expressed concerns on the Department of Education’s guidelines for the alternate uniform for teaching and education support personnel during the dry season.
Castro pointed out implications of using specific colors cited in the guidelines.
“Parang mayroong political meaning ‘yan ah, ‘yung kulay na ‘yan- red and green,” Castro said.
The solon emphasized the importance of allowing teachers and education support personnel to choose the colors they feel comfortable wearing during the dry season, without being tied to any political connotations from past elections.
“Sana pabayaan na lang ‘yung teachers at saka mga education support personnel na pumili ng kulay na gusto nila para maging mas komportable sila ngayong panahonng tag-init. ‘Wag na lang gamitin ‘yung may mga political meaning noong last elections. Kasi baka pag-isipan pa ang DepEd ng maagang pangangampanya sa eleksyon,” she added.
Castro’s comments came after the DepEd released guidelines allowing school personnel to wear collared polo shirts used in past DepEd events, including those in colors white, red, and green.
While the guidelines mention the colors white, red, and green, no other prescribed colors were specified aside from white in the DepEd’s post.
