VICE President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio reminded students at the evacuation center in Davao de Oro about the importance of having an education.

Duterte-Carpio talked to the children and stressed, “education is the key for a good future.”

The personal visit by the Vice President took place at the evacuation center in Nueva Visayas Gymnasium in Mawab in which around 24 families are staying following the landslide incident in Maco.

“Atin pong kinamusta ang kanilang mga kalagayan at kinausap dahil ang iba po sa kanila ay naghihintay pa na mahanap ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay matapos ang nangyaring trahedya,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Noong pagbisita ko, patuloy pa ang ginagawang rescue at retrieval operations ayon sa lokal na mga opisyal na aking nakasama,” she added.

Based on the latest figures, a total of 27 people were confirmed dead while 32 others were injured.
