VISAYAS STATE U COLLABORATES WITH GERMAN SCHOOL FOR BIOECONOMY
THE Visayas State University has inked a pact with University of Passau’s Bioeconomy Economics Research Group, to help promote the use of bio-based products.
Dubbed the “Residue valorization for bio-based products in developing countries: bridging the gap between technical knowledge and socio-economic realities” or ReValueD, the project aims to prioritize renewable resources like crops, forests, fish, animals, among others, to produce food, materials, and energy.
VSU said that this partnership aims to introduce the shift to bio-based economy from fossil fuel-economy, a sustainability solution that have been gaining prominence in the West.
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between UniPassau and VSU, which will take effect until 2026 for academic collaborations, while ReValueD will run for five years.
The partnership will include research activities and publications, and exchange academic information and materials, and scholarships on bioeconomy.
The project will source funds from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research – Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung.
