NO CLASSES, WORK ON JAN. 9 IN MANILA — MALACAÑANG
THE Malacañang Palace declared Tuesday (January 9, 2024) as a special non-working day in this city in line with the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
Through Proclamation No. 434, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made the declaration on Thursday (04 Jan 2024).
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation on behalf of Marcos Jr.
This means that there will be no classes at all levels and local government work in the city.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.
The Feast of the Black Nazarene is celebrated every January 9.
It culminates with the much-awaited Traslacion, a procession from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church that draws more than a million devotees from all over Metro Manila and suburbs.
