RAINS and floods damaged more than 30 schools in Mindanao, the Department of Education said.

DepEd said that 25 schools in Region IX, 1 in Region X and 10 in Caraga Region sustained structural damage.

The estimated cost of repair for the damaged schools reached P363.50 million.

DepEd said that 51 schools are being used as evacuation centers.

“Eight learners were reported to have sustained injuries, while 2,548 learners were reported to have been displaced,” DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa said .

“On the part of DepEd, we will be providing response interventions to affected schools, learners and personnel,” Poa added.
