UE SHS STUDENT WINS BRONZE IN INT’L MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD
A SENIOR high school student from the University of the East won the bronze medal in the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad.
Anton Luis Cruz placed third after competing with other participants from various countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
“Cruz took part in the Senior Secondary Round of the tournament, which was composed of a 90-minute written contest with a two-camera set-up,” UE said.
“Questions for the Senior Secondary Round were composed of questions on Geometry, Functions and Graphs (Advanced Algebra), Basic Business Mathematics and Logic,” it added.
Cruz was mentored by UE SHS Caloocan STEM-Math Unit Coordinator James Paul Ignacio.
Cruz started joining mathematics contests when he was in grade school and won several awards including the 2019 Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad; 2021 PhlMO; 2021 Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad and 2021 PhiMO Worldwide.
